Been a gamer too long to have a top ten, would struggle to name a top fifty lol.
Game of kings remains five-man Dynablaster on the Amiga.
Modern games just don't compare to the old skool titles. Technology has moved at an astounding rate. Nowadays graphics, storylines and hype hold attention, you don't need much of an imagination. Don't get me wrong, I've clocked up around 150 hours on Skyrim in recent times but that would pale in comparison to the hours I've spend on Sensible Soccer.
I started on the Atari, then Spectrum 128k, then into a run of Amigas after. On the side there were the usual consoles and handhelds but I think I was sad to eventually move up to the PC after the Amigas. Felt like a sell out!

Aww mate modern games are far better, Ive still got my Amiga 600, SNES, and PS1, but really the graphics, AI etc on the new game sytems is awesome

Can't wait for the next gen of xbox etc, i'm all for realism in war games etc.
So what is exacly amazing about the new games? The graphic is modern indeed, the sound is better, but the gameplay, storyline even the multiplayer experience is not as good as it used to be.
A lot of game manufacturers can't wait for the new consoles as well as you do, there were limited to a 2006 CPU/Graphics card for the last 6 years, because of the game consoles the game market in stagnation, they can't develop the games, improve the graphics, etc, due to the console Hardware limitations...
The funny thing about the new consoles like Xbox 720 is that it's still rubbish compared to the PC... The graphics card bandwidth would be lower then the graphics card I had in 2008.....
Just to give you a comparison - look at the old 2007 Crysis game and look at the relatively new Crysis 2, well the old Crysis was not only better in terms of the graphics, but also more fun and all because it was written for the PC only, where is the Crysis 2 is the console version....

Too many buttons! That's the problem with these modern games!
Take BF3 for example, I use a 10 button mouse with all 10 buttons mapped up plus the obvious X Y axis and in addition to that a further 26 keys mapped on the keyboard. That's 36 buttons and waving a mouse around just to aim, shoot people in the face and blow some shit up! What happened to the good old days of the Spectrum? a joystick with 1 button, such a simple but affective concept.

Well yeah, it could be improved, but I don't use more than 3 buttons on the mouse and no more than 6-7 on the keyboard normally, when I play BF3, so another 20 buttons probably to "improve" the gameplay? Well it doesn't concern me that much, what concern I have is that the game has very good graphics and 64 players support and pretty big maps, however I really don't know why but CS 1.5 FEELS MORE realistic then the BF3, take Ak-47 for example when shooting with it in Counter Strike it felt like an Assault Rifle, in BF3 it feels more like a pistol... I'm not even talking about the sniper rifles, I mean the gravity thing... Also the penetration... it's simply doesn't exist in BF3, where is in Counter Strike with AK47 you could shoot through thin walls or the trees and just like in real life kill people - that was amazing...
The vehicles in BF3 are pretty realistic, but the problem with all the vehicles that they're only for close fighting where is in real life a tank normally would fire a few mile away from the target... And a figher jet could fly very high and use TV bombs, and the rockets in real life a way faster then in the game, a standard rocket would fly through the whole map in around a second...
