What do people think of these?? big brakes.

WMS stuff does tend to be about the same price as Wilwood in most cases, we are in the same market sector (instead of chasing AP Racing, Brembo and Alcon around for instance).

Generally we try to create kits that are as "clever" as we can make them, like fitting as many wheels as possible etc, also allowing staged upgrades so people can switch from kit to kit while retaining the calipers etc.

Re: alloy bells / rotors these are in the works....

Nick will be letting you guys know as soon as new stuff becomes available!

yeah and im sure there a real good kit, i just didnt understand they hype about them being a complete bargain, well really, there well priced, but not exactly far from willwoods

That's pretty much what I said, we are normally head-to-head with Wilwood, but have little touches like the stainless inserts in the brackets etc.

When we release the alloy bell+rotor versions they will be nearly exactly the same price as the Wilwood+3G combo stuff, but again with extra (classified) "touches"! :D

tbh i totaly see wher durmz is coming from and i was thinking about this the other day as im in the market for a bigger brake kit very soon, now im not "dissing" the wms kit its just wilwood is a bigname to compete with and when this kit was comming to the scene it was advertised as being a much cheaper option and how the days of paying a fortune to upgrade the brakes on a starlet would be gone etc but to be fair they are basicaly the same price for a lesser known brand and we are still stung if we want to upgrade the brakes to a good level for high power cars :(

It all depends what you're after, WMS is not about "brand" it's about performance-for-your-pound and in the case of the current entry-level kits the one-peice discs help by cutting a big chunk off the cost compared to the 3G option (making them cheaper).

We're not worried about taking on the Wilwood name, when we've been doing kits for a given car for long enough our customer's feedback does the job for us - it's happened before on other forums (BMW E30 for instance) but can take a little while from a standing start.

Also both WMS and Wilwood are very good value compaired to the REAL big names, being AP Racing and Alcon where kits will set you back £1,500-£3,000! :drive:

again not trying to put down the product just cant see how that price is justifiable as a cheap kit :( i understand there has been R and D gone into the kit etc but surley the price could have been lower as im sure alot would agree that when your faced with two brads one whos name you know of as a tryed and tested kit and the other as a new commer to the starlet scene i know wich id go for but if one kit is a greater saving over the other then that tends to sway the decision.

also to my knowlage ap dont make a starlet brake kit so £1500 is a little ott as an example and 3k is mitsi evo AP kit money mate certianly not starlet kit money.

We're head to head with Wilwood, not undercutting them - and the price is well justified by the performance! Just to clarify yet again: WMS is not a budget brand.

As I said before we have no need to act desperate to get a foot in the door - just give it time, Nick's customers will do the talking (there are also other EPs out there in the Starlet scene with WMS stuff, just not "here")!

Re AP etc, I was talking about their kit prices in general. The price of a kit from any manufacturer (Wilwood, WMS or someone like AP Racing) will be based on the cost of the parts more than anything else....so why sould a cheaper car get cheaper brakes?

I thought the EP was a gaint-killer in terms of performance, so why cut corners on the brakes?

Good to hear from you, didn't know you were on here!?

For the masses, this is a Woodsport 3SGTE conversion on an AE101... :drive:

again was not saying they arnt going to be a good kit, but you apeared on the scene saying you wanted to bring down the cost of such upgrades and how you couldnt see why we where charged so much for the brake upgrades etc then price your kit the same as the compition :(

ill leave it at that now as i get the feeling this debate will never end.

Not exactly accurate, I'll leave it here as well with a quote from my first real post which was on 21/12/2009: (see http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60443&page=2 )

- WMS vs Wilwood: I won't be draw into a slanging match, but we tend to be in the same price bracket as Wilwood stuff by chance and are not interested in undercutting deliberatly as a way of doing busines. We (once established in each sub-market - or forum!) rely on our reputation to get sales by word of mouth - of course this initial WMS kit has one-peice discs making it cheaper but future versions will have bells and rotors and will be a similar price to the 3G/Wilwood one but relying on other technological and performance selling points - not just a label and a price.

I do fully understand your point that if we/Nick were trying to get sales quickly then starting with a "sale" might make sense...but we're only new to the Starlet, we've been doing kits for other Toyotas for many years.
