what do you guys reckon? cracked block? *updated* pls read

well i had problems with losing coolent a few months back, so i had the head gasket and water pump replaced, but this doesnt seem to have sorted it, it seems to be doing the same thing, pressurising and coolent coming out of my overflow, say if im drivin on a motorway and come to a stop i would see coolent on my wing, open up the hood and sure anuff its come out of my overflow tank, but the overflow tank isnt even full?? i have looked around the engine bay and its the only place the coolent is leaking from??

so what do you guys think? any ideas...

cheers

well its a possibilty, it could also be one of the pipes on the plenum isnt secure..

i would check all the water lines buddy, a pinhole leak could cause a disaster.. also check if the water pump oil ring is ok & in place :)

they wouldnt have skimmed the block, as that is an engine out job.

i'm pretty certain your block is 2 thou or more out, it's quite rare for the block to crack.

starlets are a bastard to do head gaskets on

that would be a good start, also a cheapish fix.. however i have to agree with ricky, sounds like ur block is a little uneven.. this is a BIG problem when using a metal hg, if ur using an oem one then no problem.. but a multilayer steel needs a perfect surface to seat properly..

sometimes even the stock gasket wont seal though, (this is from experience, and is the reason i went forged)

Sorry to spam the thread tucka but Ricky how is your car going?
Properly setup and mapped yet?

sort of,

it made 256bhp @ fly and apparently 252lb/ft torque at 19 psi, i have no graphs to back this up, and after further inspection it turns out the map is rubbish, and there is a few other things wrong, so i need to get it looked at properly again by someone who knows what there doing

Hi mate, you should have changed your stat first! Go out and pull it out it's housing now and go for a short drive and see if your coolant pipes still pressurise.

Edit; meaning drive the car with no stat

Also when ya fill the rad up with water, leave the rad cap off and let it idle till your fan comes on, then whack your heating on full hot!

*update*

ok changed my thermostat and did a full system flush, but the car is still pushin the water into the overflow so much that its causing the overflow to overflow haha, and also am i right in thinkin the overflow is only a one way system jus a dumpin ground for water it doesnt go back into the rad?

also im gettin a lil bit of water out of the exhaust and a bit of white smoke? and she has a slight miss fire wen i start her up, and then it dissapears but soon as i put my foot down she feels like shes miss fireing again?

Sounds like your headgasket mate.

My car was does the exact same thing, pushes water into the overflow. Loads of pressure! Bubbles right over.

Mine does it after a couple of laps on boost. Dont even have to drive it for long. Not exactly sure what it is. I havent done much to overcome the problem as im having the whole engine built so not really bothered.

YVS did the work on my car buddy, i can vouch enough for their quality and expereince in what they do. They will be rebuilding my engine this time round again too.

yeah but only had the headgasket done about 3 weeks ago lol

It will pull the water back from the expansion tank, but if its overflowing there is a problem

yeah its overflowing, could it be a crack in the block and would tht explain the miss fire? water gettin into one of my cyclenders maybe? im not very technicaly minded lol
