this is what i put in when i did my oil / filter change MILLERS OILS XSS 10W40 SEMI SYNTHETIC OIL 5LTR. Id also like to add that i reckon it's worth getting a K&N oil filter if you can get hold of one as they have the nut on the end. I had a pretty hard time getting my last oil filter off. Just my opinion though. :)

If you want to spend some extra coin, then get the TRD oil filter. Toyota OEM is very good quiality filter, better than K&N - do some search on the forum!

If you have problems taking it off the car, get a screw driver and a hammer - put it through the old filter, job done in 2 min.
OEM Toyota filters a bit longer than the other filters - so they're easier to take off.

i think an important point to note and state out each time here is that oil choice would also depend not only on the engine mods done, but also the age of the motor and (temperate) climate in which the engine is operated. these are two other important factors that i think should be taken into account.. true or not..?

Agreed, most of the users however from the UK, so 10W40 or 5W40 would suit everyone here.

If the engine is high mileage or very old, it is recommended to use 10W40. And never ever flush your engine with special cleaner.

If you've got an engine with a good few miles on it, you can shift the built up deposits elsewhere around the engine. Potentially causing problems.

Why do you suggest not to use a engine flush? ;)

Wayne made a good point there. Also having an oil build up, acts like a sealant, so flushing it, you risk replacing your Engine seals, which will cost you quite some money! That's why many mechanics would recommend it to you, so then you will come back to them asking for repairs.

My m8 told me the oil filters are difficult to get off the glanza cuz the air con is in the way, I haven't had mine removed yet, is there an easier way to do it? Anyone that's done it an still has the air con on theirs?

It's not hard to remove it's just no very comfortable. Get special tool for removing the filter and you should be able to do it in 5 min.
I still have an AC and the relocated Air Filter and the Front Mount.

The easiest way is with a oil filter cup wrench, 3" extension bar and a 3/8" drive ratchet. Don't buy a cheap cup wrench made of tin, they're a waste of time and money. I personally use a Honda cup wrench, it's made from a cast alloy. I'll dig the part number out if you want it, from memory it cost in the region of £15 from a Honda dealer.
