What's this part?

Working on sons Glanza I noticed a water leak .
When I looked closer it seems to be coming from a hole in an aluminum looking tower that has pipes coming from it 2 of which go directly to the rocker cover.
Does anyone have any idea is this normal or not ?

This is the part that the water is leaking from . It is coming out of a threaded hole on the back.

That's your catch can. The two hose will be plumbed into the rocker cover. It shouldn't be leaking any water out of it though, it should just gather together gunk in there.

Not been raining where you are has it?

There is a wee threaded hole at the back near the bottom where the water is coming out .should this have something in it?
Do you think head gasket could be gone if the head is breathing water ?

I'd take the can out and clean it as mentioned. That can should be sealed with a breather on unless its a closed system, where that threaded hole should have a bolt in.

If its the head gasket you will have oil in the water so check the radiator and oil cap for dodgy looking substances.

The oil catch can is designed to remove the oil and fuel vapour from the air feed back into the inlet. You will also get condensation in there too so it's perfectly normal to find a beautiful mix of all three in the can after a while. There's usually a drain hole on the unit for draining purposes.

As above - got it spot on. Normal to have a bit in there from condensation, especially in the colder weather. Drain it out and just keep and eye on how quickly it fills up. Could always fit a sight tube to the side if you wanted.
