PAL is short for Phase Alternating Line, is a color encoding system used in broadcast television systems in Europe and United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan use NTSC.

PAL = compatiable in europe and only useable in europe

games, dvd's etc which are released in europe are PAL format

best bet would be checking the box or the manual, if it works over here its fine the ps3 is multi regional which means any games from any country will work on it :) which country did u import it from?
