If you're intending on doing any sort of drag racing then a clutch plate type diff is the go.

Great info there Riko.

as the guys said depends on what ur main type of driving is gonna be

but personally its either the kaaz or cusco mz (clutch type) some ppl will say they're great but fear maintainence since thats what quaife will have the advantage. also i am not keen on buying 2nd hand clutch type lsds from japan..sometimes u get a worn out one thats been cleaned up to look nice and sometimes u get some crazy ones with alot of preload

but a brand new clutch type lsd thats broken in properly and uses proper oil will last long...I dont know why loads of people cry out about chattering and them being harsh

If u want to see harsh get the stock diff welded up

What are you gonna be using it for bazza? If you're gonna be doing a lot of track work then go for a clutch type (trd, kaaz etc...) if its purely road use the quaiffes lack of noise, lack of manintenance and general awesomeness (imo!) is the way to go.

Not having any experience with other diffs leaves me a bit biased but to be fair the vast majority of the time its gonna be road use right? With that in mind and reading what others have said about other diffs I'd still opt for the quaiffe.

Just to add to the fire, a clutch type LSD can be just a lethal on a road course as a helical unit. The main benefit and also it limitation is that it is 100% rebuildable and each clutch pack can be installed in such a way to fine tune when and how much the LSD locks. The helical benefit is that it is bulletproof and is meant to be replaced after every race season. I suppose it really depends on your driving style.
