Hey, i am afraid this one is now dead in the water. I spent weeks doing it and i suffered a complete HD failure and lost the entire book i wrote, fuckin gutted :( Oh well!!

don't toss the disk.. there are data handlers who can recover the data, even if fragments of it.. or did you already trash the drive..? :(

x2 if its the electronics that have failed , these are easily replaced with new electronics from the same drive. If the heads have crashed into the drive bad luck.
But it also possible a virus is making it look dead . One virus makes it look like your drive is not there but it is. Another I had recently deleted my data files , in this case if the drive is ok you can recover the deleted data with a special program.
