Arcade - no

Pro - possibly - 60GB hard drive

Elite - yes - 120GB hard drive - you will need it soon as you will be able to copy your games to the HDD to speed em up

Not much between the Pro and the Elite apart from colour and hard disc sizes. I think all the components are now the same so they are slightly quieter and run smoother than the old generation ones. And they both have HDMI ports.

worth very penny mate if your in doubt go to a friends house and play on one.
few of my friends have ps3's and are disapointed due to the lack of games available.

there exactly the same ffs, its just whatever fanboy you are x box / playstation / toyota / honda etc etc.

pretty much all the features are exactly the same, just depends wat you prefer.

i personally use my ps3 more as more of my friends have ps3 and the online is free.

noticed they are cheap as chips. i'm not a massive gamer but they are cheap, have decent games and online play.

I can’t see the ps3 is worth over twice as much. any opinions?

If I were you, I'd save my money. I bought an Xbox 360 a little over a year ago and it's been a disaster. Like yourself, I'm not a big gamer but I enjoy the GTA's and I love the NBA games etc.

The first problem I had with it was a known issue called 'the ring of death'. This is when 3 (or all) of the lights around the power switch light up red and tell you that its time to get the shovel and bury it in the back garden because its dead and it ain't coming back.. Ok, I didn't bury it, I exchanged it :)

The second issue I had/have is a more serious one and one that Microsoft still won't acknowledge, despite the fact that it’s happened to a lot of people. It’s where the console actually scratches a perfect circle around the outer edge of the disc, thus wrecking it. You get the 'disc is dirty' message. Real kick in the stones.

My Xbox is lying in the corner in my room. I'll sell you that one if you want it :)

If you're not really a gamer, I'd keep my money but if you do like the odd game, my advice would be to get yourself a PS3.. I actually hate Sony too but that's another day’s discussion..

Just my tupence worth but I'm sure there are loads who have had no problems with their Xboxes..

my 1st ps2 was a disaster. wouldnt play dvds properly then eventually wouldnt play anything. had a replacement and it has been fine.

just wondered if they were really all that. and as they are so cheap was it worth bothering with getting one. suppose i could just buy a big tv and play goldeneye on my ng4 until my eyes bleed ;)

Before you all start actually having sex with a 360 , take note of this

Xbox 360-33.3 chance of failure in first three years

Ps3-5% chance of failure in first three years

Id take out an extended warrenty if i was you, microsoft will not replace consoles after the warrenty period. then you'll be fucked. Like so much of my friends.

One thing that no one mentions is the actual blu-ray disc itself, they are STRONG as fuck compared to a dvd disc(xbox games). You can use the thing as a coaster and its difficult to actually damage the game! Dvd on the other hand...

for the record Microsoft offer a standard 1 year warranty on their xboxes, and a standard 3 year warranty for anyone that receives the Red Ring O' Death, so don't sweat too much.

Also the new models/batches of 360's have a much better dvd drive which is quieter and doesnt scratch the discs (lying the xbox flat helps, and do not leave discs in the machine if you are moving it).

And the newer xboxes user a different motherboard and have extra fans and a new low heat processor, which basically produces less heat which was a cause of the RROD.

If my xbox broke down today, I would simply either get it replaced free, or if out of warranty I would buy another arcade version today as they are so cheap (plus I would then have a HDMI port).

If you are worried about the DVDs, you can burn them to the hard disc drive from 19 November onwards, then you only need to insert the disc once to verify its legit, then it runs off the HDD.

cant see the ps3 dropping to anything like im willing to pay tbh. mainly want it to see me through the long boring cold winter months.

apart from a blue ray player i would never use the ps3 doesnt seem to have any other redeeming features

It's £230 in Costco with two games at the moment.
