Forge will not give you any extra power. it lays a strong base to help the engine to take the extra strain of tuning. And yes you should do it first.

pistons & rods are the bits that are forged. But you will need other thing to go with them. A complete rebuild will be necessary. with uprated parts. Forge is a process of heating and hammering of metal which changes it on a chemical level.

Good idea to get a pro to look over it. Would be worth sticking the standard turbo back on. Not a hard job and at lest you can prove the turbo side of things are ok. The problems with buying second hand is that you just don't know what life its had unless you drive the car it came off. Good luck...

yea true. would be interesting purely from an engineering view.

Sorry you get me wrong I don't want to do it but it would be interesting. like start off with a standard car & have it put on a rolling road. Then add things one at a time and see wot difference each thing makes in performance and driveability.
