306 GTI-6? what are they like?

Hey guys/girls, basically been offered a swap, my bmw 323 coupe for an R-Reg 306 GTI-6, I know nothing about them really just want a run around for a while and this sounds ideal? Was really after a 205 1.9 gti but meh!

Take the GTI-6 and then put the lump into a 205 and then you will have a serious car lol

They are ok, mate had one, not too fast really, but i dont mind 306's, they are quite tidy cars.

Obviously the gti6 is the top of the range 306, so the one to have?

I had 4 up one nite an still managed to near out run a new RS focus...

There good car's to be fair, i brought mine out of chance and it done me really well...

Easy to work on and part's are cheap, nice car to style with a few little mod's to...

Personally if i needed a run around and one of these came up i would go for it...

What phase is it???

I had a phase 1...

Stay away from pug 306's you've been warned total and utter heaps of cars. Had one for a while it was the most unreliable piece of crap ive ever owned.

Mine has been nothing short of the most reliable car I've ever had. I do have a Diesel though.

his one has 140,000 on the clock and still is going strong

I'll let you know when i get the pics through mate Never really liked them before but starting to grow on me! =] and if its a good standard car can get me around, not too slow etc i'll be happy =D

i totally agree. ive been driving a s reg 306 gti 6 for the last month nothing but head acke. got up in the morning it had a flat tyre, then i was driving along hit a pot hole engine cut out wouldnt start. later that day car woudnt switch off had the key in my hand and engine was still running. it over heated a few times and today the hand break cable came loose and was draging along road causing sparks all this in 1 month funny thing is it passed MOT last month. i gave my 306 back 2 the guy i got it from 2day.

I said NEAR out run one, we was both at around 155+ and i hade 4up in the car...

Some car's are good some are not everyone has there own experiance of them...

Give it a go and if the seller is ok with it take it to a garage for a check jus to give ya peice of mind, but really they are ok car's for a run around, and that's all you really want out of it, and they hold there price resonably well...

Cheers bud, its got quiet high miles but has cambelt done, lower arms, bush's and joints etc so alls good hopefully, gonna do the swap next week hopefully =]
