Yep it can be done. I'd heard that there are a couple Starlet 3sgte's over here. The MR2 is not a great example because that motor came in the MR2's.
To get one into a Starlet (Tercel in the US), custom axles, the motor has to be centered
left to right, up and down and front to back. Frame has to notched and numorus othe things.

There are a handful of 3sgte Tercels in the US. I heard they handle like elephants but I don't know. It is very expensive but it can be done. Unless your looking foe upward of 350+ hp , I don't think it's worth it but hey it's only money.

man revvas car is beautiful and what i haved gathereda about this swap is that its crazy expensive and why not put that money into a 5e or a 4efte. Well thats my opinion

I was thinking about doin that but the lads talked me out of it and a lot and a lot of money so I think I will go for the e5 and td06 tubro lots of power then

I thank the 5E greatly!

Its stopped plenty of people doing the 3SGTE conversion on the starlet which is keeping mine one of the only ones around.

5E is a much cheaper easier option by far. Its essentially a 4E, so not any harder really.

Ive been in hundreds of starlets now. Till this day, no regrets. The torque makes the car completely bonkers to drive. The 5E is alot more tame with most of the real power higher up.

You can only judge whats worth it after youve driven one yourself. And it doesnt really effect the handling, you just need to counter the slightly extra understeer(not that i noticed it just going on physics) with a set up offering you slightly more oversteer. Mine handles very nice considering.

If you have the money and want a crazy car its so worth it. If you have a lower budget and not looking for a completely nutty car then there is no point.

hi here iv done one ep82 with 3sgte and i agree with dan3sgte for my opinion building a 5e fully forge it not worthit better put on a 3sgte fit a dicent ecu and leave it as it is.doing this you are allways safe by the way fitting 3sgte its not difficult you need costom mounts and you need to cut a part of the left chassi leg

wait,

I never said 3SGTE was the right choice and 5E was not worth it, Im just saying that You cant comment about whats worth doing if you havent got the experience in either or just one of the cars.

Also i wouldnt start chopping the chassis leg out :holdit: Just my opinion mate.

And you say custom mounts and thats it? lol, and the rest mate :haha: Alot of work went into mine, not sure about your one. Do you have photos etc? would love to see what went into yours.

Over all potential obviously a bigger engine is going to have more anyway.

But say you dont want 850BHP, like myself and about a million others?

It depends what you want, how much your willing to spend. Having experience in all 3 engines, yeah, if you had the money then the 3SGTE is worth doing.

Im not comparing as there isnt much to compare, im just saying it might not be worth doing for some people.
