Hey guys, I am looking to install a block heater in hte starlet this winter as it gets about -30*C here in winter, and was wondering where the frst plug is located, and if ai can remove it without pulling the motor, and if a paseo (5E) block heater kit would work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

i don't know of a frost plug mate, there are core plugs that are designed to pop if the coolant freezes and expands, also there is a plug on the front of the block that i' *think* leads to the water jacket, circled in the picture

Thank you, I will see if it's accessible without removing anything, if it is, do you guys reccommend I go ahead with installing a block heater? What do you guys use? Keep in mind it gets very very cold here in edmonton.

The drain bolt is easily accessed to.

Clyson, it never gets that cold over in the UK, so insure about the heater idea.
I would try it if i were you, i reckon it would be a good idea.

I know on high end race motors, that they plug a heater into the water system before even firing the motor.
This in turn also heats the oil up slightly for better flow through out.

Well I will try it. I will measure the diameter of the hole with the plug removed and buy a water heater accordingly, hopefully there's something out there for me!

Not really.
The manifold and power steering pump get in the road.

The drdain bolt is easy enough from the bottom with a spanner.

Keep this updated, it would be good to know, what can be done.
