LOL... ok so, its pretty simple. in essence their power ranges are the same .. give or take a few cfm..

these turbos till spoolup take some time.. (variying between 4000~5200rpms), however since they are bb units they DO NOT lag between gears.. in comparison they are very similar to t3 units.. without the lag..

best out of them on the ep's imho is either a vf8, a vf22 or vf24 :)

Hi Kon,

Thanks for the info mate. Iv been reading into them and was considering the VF35, which is I believe the smallest out of the IHI series but would still be considered a big turbo for the 4efte. What do you think?

Factors I believe could be a success is that, its power range (425 cfm) is not too lower than the others and more than enough on a EP, but they have the smallest of the VF turbos P15 Ex housing? Im wondering would I be right in thinking I could have that turbo spooling on a 4efte by 3000 rpm with the right mods?

i think dan (goldenvtr) has just got himself a vf28.. you could fire him a pm too :)

Hi, thanks mate. Yeh I think I read that on his car thread. But only thing is that I think hes gonna be using it with his 5E setup not the 4E. Im awaiting his comments on this thread nevertheless ;)

VF22 is the largest of the IHI range i believe, we ran one at low boost for a short period, once on boost pulls hard and as kon said on gear changes its instant spool up, great solid turbo idea for people who don't mind the lag and there rated to 25psi also!

Can you comment on the spool time and what boost you ran at ?

Thanks

Hey mate

Spool up was just under 5krpm and boost we ran to start with about 0.85bar but we never went further with it as we decided to change our setup, but even at that boost it really pulled hard.

Can't comment on power figures tho

tbh i dont know much about the vf35.. what i do know however is id take the vf8 any day over a td04L.. ;)

sure it has more lag but comes on so much more aggresively than any other vf series turbo :)

vf24

do you guys think this is a good deal, to buy a vf24 for about usd $125 instead of getting a hybrid ct9/ct20 for about 3 times that price....the turbo part is what i havent decide what to run i already have a e-manage, 7m fuel pump, fmic, betwen some others goodies, im just waiting for winter vacations to put them all together since this is my daily drive but im just looking for under 14sec 1/4mile setup

I have a vf28 on my scooby, thought few time of a quick swap :p
if one day I decide to upgrade the scooby... but then I would need new manyfold and downpipe on the glanza, so not for now as I'm quite happy with my hybrid mitsi td04 setting :)
not all vf series are ballbearing thought. the vf28 is indeed :) TD05 is supposed to be a more reliable turbo, at least that's what you would read on scooby forums. but obviously a bit more lagged than the ballbearing vf series...
