Autosol - Headlights

Hi

I just bought some Autosol Metal Polish (does plastic as well) from Halfords, and used it on my yellowing cloudy Glanza headlights. After a fair bit of elbow grease I managed to clear up about 85% of the crap off of them, the rest is inside, and would have to buy new lights to fix.

Thanks to Alan_D or Trevor, whoever recommended trying this!!

They look far better, almost new!

Forgot to do a before and after pics, dag namit.

Cheers lads.

When I autosoled mine, it didnt really make much difference. Did it a couple of times. Bought new headlights and it transformed the looks of the car and made night driving 10000000% better. It was easily the best £110 Ive spent ont the car. Plus I put my old lights on ebay, I said that they had dulled and still got £65 for them. So for £45 I got pristine lights.

My FTO had the same issue. I used 2000grit wet and dry paper, with G3 Cutting Compound then buffed up with autosol.

Awesome results.

Don't have the issue with the GT, as the quads have all glass lenses.

acrylic polish for headlights

I used "Novus 2" acrylic plastic polish 8oz bottle as recommended by easypaintyourcar.com dvd (via youtube). Its meant for pinball machines and plastic display cases in shops. Got it off ebay. It removed all the yellow fading and looks like new.

Don't bother with novus 1 or 3 they didn't work!!

(FWIW I found the caraudiohelp.com fibreglassing dvds far more informative about paint spraying/finishing than easy paint your car dvd)
