hello i was wondering what will happen if you remove the shaft coming from the gearbox connecting the rear driveshavt on an awd caldina with a/t gearbox.

cause the car consumes a lot of fuel the engine has no problem, so i was thinking of making it lighter for the engine if i remove the coupler shaft,

i cant imagine it will make much difference in all honesty.

i ran my starlet around for a few weeks with just the front wheels driving as i was waiting on a new centre coupling and for the propshaft UJ's to be rebuilt. made no noticeable difference to the fuel consumption, it did seem to take a slight load of the engine though!
