silkolene is very good sheldon.. go for the syn5 75-90 i use it on mine & found it fantastic!

as for your problem i know it all too well, its ur linkages.. they may appear fine BUT one of them may be slighly bent (u can barely notice it until u remove the gearshift/linkages & inspect outside..

other than that it could be the clutch not fully disengaging..

kon

yeah i think burnout garage has silkolene and will go there.

as for the problem.. i dont think its clutch as its doing it while the engine is off and if it was the clutch i dont think it will change gears up in high revs..

will remove the selectors and linkages + change oil to be safe. and will check that thing calld sugarcube.

I think the sugar cube you mentioned is the little square spacer that sits under one of the selection levers?

Thats a good culprit for what yousuffering.

Also you could try adjusting the rod at the top of the clutch pedal to raise your pedal biting point out slightly further, could be just borderline with the clutch having bedded in mate.

i had this problem, it turned out the be the linkage cables. They must have been worn or something. Dont take my word for it though. Without seeing it i wouldn't be able to say. It could be your clutch

errmm.. problem looks like its solved.. didn't expect it that easy. took everything of cleaned them with wd40 and put some grease on and re-assembled everything and now its fine.

i noticed that that thing called the "sugar cube" is different on mine.. mine is just a peace of plastic

I have seen the plastic ones on n/a boxes as well, and the Glanza box I had on my last Starlet had a plastic one also.

I have seen what appears to be a brass one as well but nothing like the one in that pic.

toyota being toyota changed the 'sugar cube' design multiple times in the c series gearbox life span. i have seen the common steel square ones, plastic ones and also round ones in my time.

how are you getting on? problem fixed now?

yes, all i did is cleaned and greased everything.. lol but i still feel a bit of play in my gearlever i will take the unit out and search for any wear..

i was concerned about that plastic thing (sugar cube) but if your saying it was changed on glanzas etc. its all fine as didnt look like it was worn!

good to hear.

i dont think it was changed specifically on the glanza but it was used on a few models and types of C series gearboxs that i have come across.
i have seen the round type also on the glanzas before.
