Blue Smoke Randomly ?

Right ive finished running my engine in (1000miles) done the regular oil changes etc. done it all properly, ive noticed that every now an then on warm start up it smokes quite badly for 30secs or so then clears?? doesnt always do it tho just every now an then, doesnt do it from cold and im not sure if it does it when booting it....any suggestions im rakin my brains out here lol

looking at your build thread man i would say turbo possibly, you had new stem seals in the head after it went to the machine shop?

Yeah im running stock ct9..i did think turbo but wouldnt it be smoking all the time if the seals have gone?..yeah had new stem seals put on genuine toyota ones, might have to try a different turbo then see what happens :)

usually seals will show blue smoke when your on idle bud, try to look at intercooler pipes for any oil residue, thats usually a good indicator.

il go an have a look in a sec see if theres any signs...i know theres a little bit of oil on the mesh on the inlet rub yur finger accros it n you can feel it on there

When my old CT9 went, it smoked on idle and the odd puff when de-accelerating.. as above, have a look in the intercooler pipes

Right i checked the pipes and there was only a little bit in them like a slight coating? inlet on the turbo is oily too like noticably oily?

turbo oil seals matey sounds like.
best way is wip off downpipe, and check to see how oily it is.
also keep an eye on ya oil level dude.

Yeah, turbo seals. Mine started to spit oil throught the intercooler and on the inlet side also - so it was changed and all intercooler/inlet piping cleared out.

yeah think i might just put her off road for abit n get the turbo sorted :) id rather not be driving it when the seals totally fail lol smoke screen on the m25 lool
