Question for those who have rebuilt their engines with aftermarker bearings (ie ACL or King)
What are the supplied sizes? Do they say? I am looking at getting a 5E crank reground (altho think it may be beyond repair) but its all confusing about the exact sizes..
Now ACL etc do the bearings in standard, 0.25 and 0.5 oversize. Thats all very well - simple enough. But what size have they done for stock?
Reason being - toyota have 3 sizes of bearings for the rods, and worse still - 5 sizes for the main bearings, so how can ACL get away with 1?
On the 5E (bearings are bigger then 4E ones) the crank - rod journal is 42.985-43.000mm so presumably the 0.5mm oversize will be for 42.500 dia, that ok, but there are 3 rod sizes (1 = 46.000 - 46.007, 2 = 46.007 -46.014, 3 = 46.014 - 46.021. Do ACL just size theirs to be somewhere in the middle of that???
For the Main bearings it gets more confusing!! The crank can be size 0, 1 or 2 and the block is size 1, 2 or 3 with 5 bearing sizes. You add the 2 numbers together for bearing size (ie if crank was size 1, and block size 1 , 1+1 = number 2 bearing). The crank size is 0 = 49.995-50.000, 1 = 49.990-49.995, 2 = 49.985-49.990) with the block being, 1= 54.018-54.024, 2= 54.025-54.030, 3= 54.030-54.036
What gets me with that is the bearings are not built for a specific Inner or outer diameter its in thickness, very odd.
If the crank is repairable i was gonna see about having the rod journals cut to 0.5 oversize and the main bearings 0.25
