I tried A-Plan, Flux, Bell, Elephant, Admiral and another one who all told me it will be no less than £5000. Well Admiral said about £4k, but still silly.

Hmm. They'd probably collapse if I told them about the mods.

Idrees, you'll find insurance silly money on any car at your age, so you might as well pay through the nose for a car you actually like.

to be honest idrees i would just take the 1900 quid,

you arent gonna get much cheaper than that unless your driving a 1.0 corsa!

unfortunately insurance for 17 year olds is ridiculous.

i had to pay `1700 on a 1.4 fiesta on my first car, to drive a nice motor unfortunately you gota cough up

idrees, you insurance qoutes are roughly about right,

my bro was pay £1700 tpft for his first year on his p reg renault clio 1.2, and he only covers about 7000 miles per year.

and my insurance, cheapest i have been qouted is £1300, i'm 22 2 years no claims, and been driving for 4 years.

i agree,

if your expecting quotes under 1000 you may aswell not bother lol, coz its just not gonna happen :(

i would aim for quotes around 1500 - 2000 anything inbetween that is decent for your age

This in my mums policy though, on my name the cheapest I've found is £2200ish.

I've tried different postcodes and it takes it down to £1500ish which I'm happy with. I think I need to move house now!!

I didn't really wanna go on my mums policy but I may be left with no choice

if you do that then you won't build any no claims for a start,meaning when you do go on your own you'll get shafted again.

and also it's not technically legal to get someone to insure your car as main driver and put you on as named if you intend on driving the car the most.
