car jumping

having a problem when going down the gears mostly from third to second the car is jumping like mad any idea what this could be?

could you explain a little more what you mean by 'jumping' ?

its like when your learning to drive and your takin off and the car starts jumping before it conks out.its similar to that only its comin from 3rd to 2nd and its not conking out if ye know what i mean.there is oil leaking from the g/box and someone said oil could be on the flywheel but i dont really know if they know what there talking about tbh.

Are you getting a shuddering on take off or under hard acceleration?

its not when im accelerating its when im coming down the gears foot off the pedals its jumpin like mad its a bit hard to explain.its juddering as if it wants to die but when i put my foot back on the accelerator it stops until the next time

Clutch not engaging properly when dropping gears?? When you are drop it to second what kinda RPM you at in 3rd, as in is it like when you drop to second while doing about 5000RPM in third like the car is pulling backwards??

...could be a throttle position sensor? Have you hosed down your engine bay recently?

yeah but tbh its bein like this a good while before i hosed it down.i wouldnt even be at 5000rpm when droppin gears could only be over 3000 drivin normally and it still does it.its like the car is jumpin forward if ye know what i mean

...had the same thing on a swift gti, crazy jumping, was the TPS, see if you can swap it with someones that works.

is it hard to get at to swap over.i could get a loan of 1 handy enough if there is not too much work involved

check the engine mounts are ok too.

I'm running a Daihatsu Charade with a 4EFTE and so had to had custom drive shafts. I was facing a similar problem although i do beg your pardon if I'm off. My car used to shudder off throttle and it turned to be worn out inner Joints on the drive shaft.

im only after havin the short shaft out the other day and that looked perfect on the inner joint not so good on the outer though
