Car overheating

i have a starlet gt turbo ep82.

Seems to over heat on motorway journeys which arfe more than say 10 mins long.

it has had a new thermostat fitted so i dont think it could be that.

the heating works fine, i even use it to get the engine temp down and just open windows but obiously this isnt great.

any ideas on fixing the problem?

it doesnt do it with short trips pottering about unless i really thrsh her.

check for air trapped in coolant system and compression , check if fan is kicking in (maybe loose plug), thermostat if its getting stuck, could be headgasket leaking etc etc
