i'm bored of my everyday hack, it's only a vauxhall astra 1.6, it does good on fuel and stuff but it's sucking the life out of me :(

i can't use the starlet for work as it's too small, low and impractical so was thinking of a sporty estate.

been offered a clean Red 1999 UK Impreza 2000 Turbo wagon for £2000, just basic mods, exhaust, sti seats and bug-eye late spec intercooler.

never owned a scoob so after thoughts on them and what to look out for?

one thing i've noticed, insurance seems to be a killer, getting quotes of £1000, i'm 30 years old for chuffs sake :( :haha:

The Scooby will go good and stuff but it'll suck the fuel out of your life..

Nice upgrade just expect the fuel bills and insurance to sting a little.

great cars, look out for crunchy 2nd and 3rd gears, Mafs are weak on them, rear brakes seize.

If you want to do a diagnostics check on your car, go down to the foot pedals steering rack area and you should see two black connectors and two green. To do a diagnostics plug the black ones together and turn the ignition on (don't turn the engine on) if all is clear the engine check should blink in half second intervals. If there are any problems for example 23 the light will flash slow twice and then 3 quick flash's.

Thats all the codes there.

To reset the ecu.
Ensure engine is at normal operating temperature, turn engine off
Locate the two ECU connectors, located under the steering column and consist of a black plastic male and female connector, and a green male female connector
With the ignition OFF connect black to black and green to green.
Turn on ignition, do not start the engine, depress the accelerator pedal to full throttle, then return it to the half-throttle position and hold for a few seconds, and then release
Engine Check lamp turns on
Start engine and then drive for at least one minute, keeping road speed above 11 Km/h.
ECU is now re-set.
At this point the check engine light should start to flash the all clear signal (steady 1/2 second interval flashes). If the check engine light does not flash, or indicates some other sequence, there is a fault present in the system, and should be professionally checked for necessary repairs.
Stop the car and turn off the engine.
Disconnect the black and green connectors.
Job complete.

The plugs your looking for.

Comes in handy.

Iain, for cheap insurance on jap cars i really cant express how good the admiral group are.

so either, Bell, Elephant or admiral.
what i do is get a quote from one. go to another and say i got this quote can you mathc/ beat it. they use the same references and bring up the details and normally beat. repeat 10 times ahaha.

as for scoobies... such a cool car but juicy. cant wait till i can insure one :).

best of luck
