cheap things to do to make it faster

and you would need a replacement to get through the MOT correct? as the Co reading will be higher (atleast in the netherlands it would result in a apk fail (apk is the dutch version of mot)

getting cheap power is not easy. the more power you want, the more you will have to spend.
list i have done to get my car around 180bhp:

replace exhaust manifold (due to restriction on 3rd runner on stock mani) i chose a WEPR one
get a decat and a catback exhaust to free up the exhaust path
relocate air filter to front bumper to get a better air flow and responce from the turbo. the stock efi pipe is very restrictive
by relocating the air filter and removing the efi pipe you will also need a decent dump valve as the stock one won't be in the system anymore
get a hks actuator to keep a steady boost and to be able to ajust it
fuel cut defender to keep the car from entering fuelcut
uprated fuelpump as the stock pump may struggle in high revs to get enough fuel to the injectors (resulting in running lean and damaging your engine)
apexi SAFC as a minimum of fuel management and get it set up propperly at a tuner or get a wideband sensor to DIY
front mount intercooler would help with keeping the air temps down in the intake.

those are (imho) the minimum requirements to run 1 bar boost and to net around 170/180bhp

apart from that i would highly recoomend several gauges such as oil temp, oil pressure, boost, wideband, to keep an eye on your engine.
and don;t run cheap fuel! get high octane fuel to reduce detonation and your car will love you for it.

being cheap and wanting power don't mix
and give your car plenty of TLC, chance fluids and filters regularly, warm up the car before pushing her. cool down the car by driving low revs after pushing her before turning the engine off. this will increase the life span of the engine and turbo a lot.

small things that also help is removing power steerring and aircon as they both take a bit of engine power to operate
