I was just wondering what has been the cheapest price paid for a decent starlet. Im not talking about an Akki special or a spares or repair blown up jobby, Im talking about an MOT'd, running, needed nothing doing to it to be used as a daily driver.

How long is a bit of string.
what you class as decent? mileage? mods etc. so many factors mate. narrow it down and people will be able to help

i reckon you will be looking at 2k minimum. but most will need something doing to them at that price.

£1500 will get you something that may need a few little bits doing, i have bought a couple like that.

even at 3k you will probably find it will need something doing to it. its just the luck of the draw really. just depends what you consider to be "needing nothing doing"

as said depends what youd live with. my starlet allways allways 'needed something doing' haha and i spent about 6 grand on it including buying the car

Not talking about mods etc. Just wondering whats the cheapest someone has paid for a useable car. Not a perfect example, an Mot'd reliable car. I dont want to buy one and Im not selling one, I was just wondering. Someone may have struck lucky.
Nothing needing doing meaning its reliable with a mot. Basically not a Akki/Sham type deal just a cheap car.

Seen some at just above the £2000 mark for a V, and £1400 for a GT. Very cheap, but unless going to see them you will never know what they are truely like.

basically the more money u have the better one you'll get..i'd say about 4k would get you a minter but if your just after a reliable mot'd one and your not really fussy you could get them cheaper

People are not understanding the question! Has anyone ever bought a bargain. Anyone found a little old lady selling one for £500 etc etc. I know what there worth but has any one had a right steal.

i have never actually seen a decent car bought from a little old lady. most arent serviced regularly and are rotten and not in good condition at all.

as with any car, there are bargains.

i got my 4wd starlet for what i consider a bargain considering what they are worth atm. was from a bloke in slough who didnt know what he had. was a bit less of a bargain when i found i had to replace a part that cost £400 :(

Condition is everything - I've seen shit ones go for mint money and mint ones go for shit money. Better to spend £2500 on a clean example instead of £1500 on a rough one that needs £1000 spent on it so make sure to do your sums.

I bought one for £50 before. Problem was it would have taken several thousand to bring it back on the road lol.

I would say 3-4k for your avg one mate, supper modded could go silly money.

Do you research check the car out thoroughly, use this site for common faults when you visit :)

i buy and sell cars from time time when work gets a bit slack and i always go to an auction and ive just bought a white gt with mint white rota alloys with 4 good tyres, jasma exhaust syatem, big front mount, walbro 255 tinted windows etc for £725 and the car is imacualate. its got about 6 months tax aswell. all i had to do was buy a new lock set for it and its all done

this is another thing. your idea of immaculate or mint could be completely different to mine for example. lots of things classed as being mint condition have looked rough in my eyes before.

I know of a lad that bought a glanza for €500, it had a factory lsd and rear 3 point strut...
It had no nct/tax and needed a few things like shocks and i think a ct9..... Not a big job at the end of the day tho

I bought mine for £1600 taxed 6months and MOT'd for year i found a few problems with it but nothing massive and it was pretty much standard and im the second UK owner

i thought that was a pretty good deal think the guy just wanted rid. I did have to drive down to exeter to get it tho which is a good 8-9 hours round trip :s was worth it though still got it two years down the line.

was the viscous coupling underneath the car.

gearbox is still making noises too. must be input shaft bearings or something. still works fine though. oh, and the rear diff whines a bit over 60mph.
