try Meister R but i think you will need more money mate, unless you want chocolate ones, second hand coilies are hit and miss.

As above, I would save a little more and go for the Meisters. I would only want to be putting brand new coilovers on my car rather than risking getting 2nd hand ones..

ok kl are the meister R ones the best a starlet can get?

trd i would say! but there mega bucks lol! see to be honest! ive had coilovers and there the most over-rated piece of equipment! all your car will do is skip and bounce about the place!
do what i done and spend 150 quid on a good set of tein springs and you sorted pal ;)

you got shit coilovers then mate, or they werent setup properly.

i have 5 starlets. 2 have tein springs on stock dampers, one has D2s, one has meisters and the other has teins.

the teins spring setup is ok, definitely good on a budget, but not the best by far.
tein coilovers are brilliant on the roads, meisters are a little harder, but i have them for my 4wd project so not really fussed if the ride isnt silky smooth. the D2s are pretty hard, but not horrendous compared to when they were new, they seem like they have settled a bit!

one of the 1st things i ever do to a car is lower it. and 'good' coilovers would be my preference if i had the money.

good set of shocks and springs if you dont want a hrader harsher ride, and colilovers if you want the best handaling, i use tein HA's and they are awesom!! car handles like a total slag through bends and dosent roll or under/oversteer atal! coilovers and lsd are two of the best handaling mods for a starlet imo folloed by as many bars/braces as you can get and a goo set of front and rear anti roll bars ;)

The Zeta-R are design to give compliant handling over the UK uneven road surfaces...
They won't be skipping over bumps and be harsh for everyday use as they are designed to keep traction over uneven road surfaces.
I really have yet to have any complain about "harsh" ride with the Zeta-R coilovers on EP82 / EP91.

On a side note: The EP85 / EP95 Starlet 4WD coilovers will be a bit harder than the EP82 / EP91 Coilovers.
That is because the rear of the 4WD Starlet is so short that I had to use a slightly harder spring rate just so we can lower the rear down.
The normal 220mm 4kg/mm springs will be too long to fit into the suspension package so that is why it will be slight harder.

im not complaining about the meisters mate. i do think the ride on the meisters is very good, but my personal opinion is that the teins are better for the roads i drive on. if you compare them with the price in mind then the meisters come out on top ;)

I see, well... the long as you are happy with them that is all that matters.
I am just saying if you are using the MeisterR Zeta-R on your EP82, the ride should be just as smooth as the Tein.

The Zeta-R on the EP85 is stiffer because the spring rate and damping rate are limited due to fitment. :)

prob not in the same league as cusco, buddy club or bilstein just yet to be fair ( you would pay upwards of £1000 to £2000 for big names ), but for the roads around & daily driving yes & if set up correctly then they should perform better, but you get value for money & no complaints so far from what i hear.

Just I add in a note that Price doesn't always equal to quality or performance.
There are company with big name that charge you more money and give you lower quality products simply due to the name.

And some time expensive suspension are very track based and therefore perform worst on the road.
The best example I got of that is a customers who purchased a set of QRS suspension (These makes Cusco look cheap) and end up selling them on because they were too harsh for the roads.
End up getting a set of MeisterR Zeta-R and had been very happy with it as the suspension provided exactly what he wanted.

Suspension are designed with a purpose in mind.
There are never really "The Best" because it is always a compromise... what you do better at one thing will cause you to do worst at another thing.

Ask spuddy what he thinks about MiesterR. I have driven his car and the MiesterR are a really good setup.

Spuddy has done 165mph in his gt turbo with this setup and said he was amazed how the car felt so tight and sturdy.

Just my own 2 pence worth but i think they are extremely good coilovers for the price.
