well if the cylinders have issues as u have been told........then it will smoke with the old turbo also......

Indeed! And surely it would be noticeable if the internals had gone from driving it? It tivks over and runs very smoothly!

Same thing just happened to me, well annoyed now, driving along, took it up to .7 bar which isn't a problem as Im running a jam ecu, and my old turbo took 1 bar all day long.
As said. took it to .7 @ around 5k and then pop from the exhaust and blue smoke, seems to be on Idle and deceleration, from past experiance I would say the turbo, last week my comp test was 160 psi all across and I don't have a restriction in number 3 of the manifold, so I will be quite suprised if the engine has gone, and the car still runs, idles fine like before.
Like tgtt.com I have a speedvision turbo that I fitted 2 days ago, and have done about 15 miles.

Hmmm, Im a bit concerned now after reading this as this has also happened to my Speedvision hybrid! Sam has been very helpful since I reported the problem and has said he will send me a replacement asap but not sure now if others are doing the same! My turbo completely stopped spooling up whilst getting mapped and then started smoking like a bitch!

Not sure about that as the smoking would be black as apposed to bluey white if running rich. I think the oil seals are very weak or something and therefore blowing as soon as any boost is put through them. However, I dont understand why mine stopped spooling completely???

this is unfortunate guys as I know how much you were all looking forward to receiving these hybrids
We have spoken to speedvision and as stated earlier in this thread they are working to find a resolution to this matter. I guess the good news is that Sam is known for excellent customer service so you will be sorted out but I do understand the inconvienience is a pain.
Lets wait and see what Sams report back is.

Sam has been spot on with me so far, I'm sending the turbo back and he is testing another one which he is gonna send me when it seems to be ok.
And true, they were cheap, but I still expect something that works. I hardly think it's a case of "you get what you pay for", as I'd expect £400 to get me more than 2 day's use of a turbo
As said though, Sam is sorting it out hopefully.

This is exactely what mine has done mate! Does yours still fully boost or just smoke?
@Mike, I took the turbo off and no sign of damage to the blades mate!

what did the turbo sound like before it went pop? did it sound out of balance at all? make any odd sounds or anything?
ive had a turbo do that too me before. was out of balance. just wrecked itself and dug into the compressor housing. bearings just knackered themselves big time.
