Didn't know there was an exhaust temperature light lol!

it shows the light in this diagram and it says:

http://www.estima-motoring.co.uk/FAQ - Dashboard Warning Lights.htm

if the exhaust temperature light is accompanied by the battery warning light, the internat temperature ot the catalytic converter is above normal,
is there anyway 2 fix this or will i have to get a mechanic to look at it?
so i think the altinater has nothing to do with it, would i be right in thinkin dat?

I had this happen about a year or so ago. The exhaust temperature light and battery light both came on and the car run out of power and cut out, (No lights ect) Back then i didnt know what it was so got the car looked out and it turned out to be a worn alternator belt. Replaced that and all is as good as new and aint had same prob again. BUT according to that site it means the cat is at high temperature ????
