Detailled My MR2 - Maybe of interest to NI Guys???? 56k warning!

noticed the interest in detailling rising here, so thought id post up my own MR2.
If any of the Co Antrim/Down boys are interested, im not hard to pay and would be glad putting in some time on your GT???

When I bought my mr2, I knew from the outset that being NA I wouldnt be faced with too many tuning options, so set out to make her look great instead!

Ive always been into a bit of detailling, so thought it was about time I bought a porter cable setup, and a stack of Sonus pads and chemicals, I also have the full Poorboys SSR range, Hamber Bilt Clay, Menzerna Polishes too.
Wax Wise I have Poorboys, Megs, Dodo Juice, And my Favourite - Swissvax.
I tend to use their Samurai on Jap cars due to it being specificly designed for post 1988 Japanese vehicles. It is matched to their particular JIS-3 and JIS-4 multilayer paint finishes.

My 93 NA had seen some action in its 14 years of life, and although virtually dent free, the paint had gone chalky and lost all its shine, so I set about the following:

-Clayed with magic clay and magic lube,
-2 sets of passes with power gloss (yes camo can confirm it needed two full sets of passes!) on a sonus restore pad
-residue removed with sonus green microfibre
-1 pass with sonus swirlbuster and residue removed again with sonus green microfibre
-1 pass with Klasse all in one (residue removed with sonus terry towel)
-1 pass with Klasse hand glaze (residue removed with sonus terry towel)
-2 coats of Swisvax Samurai (buffed with Megs lambswool towel)

Heres the results!

Heres a before, just after claying and ready to get buffing, note the hard swirl in the paintwork

and.....

After!!!

thanks for the kind comments people!

@ Aiden - you know where I am and your ALWAYS welcome by for a cuppa!
hows the glanza going these days?

seriously folks you dont need training to do this, If you visit www.reallymeansounds.com, go into the forum, then car care, then youll have access to some great videos, theyre set to 'sticky' on the forum too!

its truely amazing but how a clean, corrected, and visually standard car, can be set apart from heavily modified ones, simply by better performing chemicals, Id love a go at Jays 'grey sister' sometime! ooerr that sounds dodgy doesnt it!

all you need is a quality random orbital buffer like a portercable, and a transformer, plus some clay, swirl remover polish, and a quality wax.
the second secret is maintaining it by two bucket washing or the use of a good foam lance like a gilmour. that and never rubbing the paint while its dirty.

You'll need to let the grey one get dirty first Al!

Nice work, Molly looks even cleaner than last I saw her - if that's possible?

Off topic gossip : I met Sally's badass sister on Friday. The Celica GT4 RC edition with all the rally bits as standard. Unbelievable condition and one of 80 left in the UK. Noce!

lol sally is away to AI autosport this morning, she's getting more and more bad ass by the day.

Jay, cars like the grey sister are what made me want to learn paint correction! shes perfect in every way! I wish I still had her sister the odd time....

heres another before and after!!! this time Leannes Clio sport that shes selling to buy a glanza!!!

note the gap between the wee fly/midge things feet and the base colour, thats the top coat!!! no swirl/marring or anything, queue one happy al!

Personally i think most of that stuff is a bit overkill. I just use Autoglym Car shampoo and super reson polish and a bit of elbow grease.

SRP is exactly as the bottle suggests but, a polish. It does not contain wax, remember folks, any 'liquid wax' will at most contain a suspension of no more than 5%.

SRP 'backfills' swirl and marks, simply obscuring them rather than totally removing them, which is an art unto its self.

Its the same thing as rebuilding a tired engine with forged internals, or simply putting in a heavy oil to quieten it down, in some eyes, the oil may have 'fixed' it, but in reality the damage is still there lurking, it just depends what your satisfied with, and personally im not satisfied till each little imperfection is ironed away.

you should get yourself some 'prima amigo' if you dont want to remove imperfections, rather just fill them, its properties are immense, even on blacks.

any chance of some hard angled hard light shots?
