Cheers lads, sorted, just out of curiosity, would a tube run into the tank to be siphoned or is there anything stopping it

There's like a non return flap on the tank pipe, dropping it outs only 4 bolts and a few pipes, you can get to it under the back seat too.
What are you up too ?

I'd to get rotten fuel out of tank a while ago. I was changing the pump anyway so while the pump was out I used a siphon pump to get most of the old stuff out. Put a new pump in and a drop of fresh juice. I was changing the fuel filter so I disconnected that and turned the ignition on and ran some of the fresh juice out from the disconnected fuel filter hose down into a bottle until it ran clean. Then put the new filter in. Fired her up

While on the topic, how long is too long for fuel to go bad.. and yes yes.. I know, the environmental variables matter but in general, how long would you folks say is too long.. especially for you Ukay boys and girls with your 11.5-month wet weather life.. :p

I have found it is ok for about a year tbh. Maybe a couple of years if you put an additive in.

I taught that, kinda had to force the tube threw, don’t think it was long enough anyway so jus bridged the fp & b+, fuel was in there 5 year plus I’d say

Tbh a new one is pretty cheap and if it's that blocked up then it is likely to leak if you get it clear.

But if you want to clear it, then just use hosepipe pressure water and keep trying to flush it every way round you can. Block the holes up and only leave an in and an out so it forces the shit out rather than it going the easiest path.

It is easiest to do removed from the car but can be done with it still in. It's only 2 bolts and the rad fan plug to remove it though!

Cheers, I’ll give that a blast, have a few other things in mind too, if all fails where would be good to pick one up, original size

I've always gone with eBay. Try and stick to a brand name like nissens or similar and you should be ok.

Used to cost like £45 delivered, now it's more like double that unfortunately, but not too bad for a brand new item tbh. Just check dimensions before ordering as there are 2 different lengths. Both will fit and work fine, but the stock GT/glanza one is a little longer and will give a touch more cooling capacity

Most come with a new rad cap too, which is handy.

75 on the Bay and loads of sellers :)
Could probably get a half size triple core for around that figure too, mine was 65 that was like 5 years ago tho

Cheers lads, I left it overnight filled with cosmetic, picked up a new rad cap too, only problem now is the fuel pump is knackered so can’t run it for long enough to test it, any how I think I’m going to get the one from tuning developments, just wondering dough is it a straightforward fit

Fuel pumps are a pretty easy job. Just be a bit careful undoing the joint ontop of the tank as you can round off the nuts if you aren't careful.

The pump itself is a more of less straight swap. Sometimes you don't even need to swap the connector over if you are lucky

Give Idress at ID works a shout for the pump, TD is very unreliable :)
