It wouldn't matter if you drilled holes, fitted cold air feeds or had magic pixies with cold air wands, the EFI pipe running across the exhaust manifold is going to heat soak like a mofo.

If you want some real gains, quite being a tight ass and get a filter off the turbo behind the bumper.

As for the comments on the meshed turbo, I pulled 179bhp and 152 lbs.ft with mesh.

Go figure :p

maybe you did but i was wondering what difference it would actually make over stock setup with a panel filter?

when i finally get round to removing the aircon i will have a filter behind the bumper but until then ill have to put up with whatever setup is best at the moment!

Well, no restriction at all (The EFI pipe is shit) and cold air would come from behind the bumper. Not a great amount, but it won't all be warm.

LOL @ The fuel pressure comments. :homer:

don't replace the hks element, it sucks. You can buy a cheap decorators spounge the real plasticy ones and cut it to shape. They are made from the exact same stuff and only cost 99 pence.

You should notice an increase in response. Keep an eye on the boost level though, removing the EFI pipe will promote an increase in boost, which isn't good if you don't have the mods to support it.

There are several reasons HKS spend millions developing their air filters, and using the 'same stuff' that cost 99p from uncle bob's nick-nack pound shop isn't one of them. :p
