Could front hub be damaged after curbing car very hard ? Does anyone have any idea where I can get a drivers side front hub for an ep91 with ABS?
Aftermarket or used ?

Cheers

its unlikely the hub would be damaged if nothing else is bent or broken. whats the issue?

best bet for spares is ebay or look on forums such as this one of ukso.

Have you check the suspension bits, if you've clattered a curb pretty hard something may well be end down there.

In any heavy impacts I've seen the bottom arm and the shock mounting points will bend before the hub will. It's most likely the alloy rim will deform in these sorts of incidents so worth spinning the wheel and checking both inner and outer edges are okay whilst you are on the ground.

Hi Jay
The wheel , lower arm , drop link and disc were damaged . The wheel has been repaired and the rest replaced. What else should I check?

Due to the hub Being a casting, it's more likely than to just crack.

Check for any cracking. If it's ok, I would consider replacing the wheel bearing.

If a new lower arm fitted back ok, then the chassis is probably ok at the impact point.

Once back in together get the alignment done and if it drives fine then you have probably got away with it.

I have it back together at the moment but the wheels are noticeably out of line and the top of the wheel on the corner in question is leaning out. I had intended to just get it tracked but when I put it back together it looked to far out just to be just needing tracked:confused:

If all of that has been replaced you will almost certainly need the tracking and alignment set up again before it'll look or feel right. If the tech doing your geometry is having trouble getting it all pointing straight again you may find the hub needs replacement but it's rare. Only seen two bent hubs in the past and those were in heavily damaged breakers. Properly tested to destruction!

Hi jay
When you say alignment what actually needs aligned ? Who would do this ? What equipment is required?
It's that far out that it is undriveable so I would need to trailer it.

Your actual steering geometry needs reset to within specifications ie. wheel alignment, castor, camber, tracking, etc

A four wheel laser alignment ramp is the most accurate.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the track rod, if this is damaged the wheel will not point straight.

Here's a couple of pics of it in case yous can see something I'm missing ! I did notice that the spring compressed enough on impact to allow the driveshaft to bash the inner wing . You can see it in one of these pics.

The track rod looks straight , you can see it in the first picture.
What sort of place has a four wheel laser alignment ramp ? A body shop?

I would consider changing the bottom balljoints. They would bend before the hub. If you suspect the hub is bent, the bottom balljoints will be.

The Hunter laser alignment system is good. You can search online for your nearest place that has it. But as with most things, The equipment is only as good as the bloke using it.

Just to get it somewhere near, pretty much any tire place can set the alignment.

The only adjustment you have is the toe on The front. Unless you have coilovers then you will most likely have camber adjustment too.
Get the toe set to either standard settings for a UK starlet or parallel, set the camber to about 1-1.5 degree negative if you have coilovers.
