Had a quick search and couldnt really find anything.

Anyway, Switch on the glanza tonight and noticed the driving lights weren't working. However side lights and full beam are both working? I have got hid's however theyve always worked fine since ive had them. Im thinking it might be a fuse? anybody got any ideas? was too dark too look for fuses earlier, but if anybody could point me in the right direction for tomorrow that would be mint

are driving lights dipped beam?

As only car I know with driving lights are 106 gti's as they aren't fogs on that car.

Reason I ask is that if it's dipped beam, and you have HID's which are H4 I assume, then full and dipped iirc are the same bulb and not changed, it only moves the bulbs forward and back for dipped and full, well my old ones did.

I haven't got a circuit diagram for the headlamps, but I would have thought it would be the same fuses and relay that feed both the dipped and main beams.

Possibly the HID bulbs or ballasts have failed from the cold wet weather, or the HID system has burnt the headlamp switch out.

I'd check the fuses first, this might help:

If the fuses are good, then try an standard headlamp bulb and see if the dipped beam works.

Deffo agreed on the test standard bulbs and checking fuses.

But I would have thought the bulbs would be fine since they work on hi beam.

Do they click when you try dipped and no light appears?

well just bin outside with a torch (3:20 am lol) and couldnt find any blown fuses. so full beam is working, but dipped beam isnt , and they run off the same bulb and same fuse . mmm very confused !

Main and dipped beam will be grounded separately through the headlamp switch. If dipped beam doesn't work with a normal headlamp bulb, then you need to check for an earth at the bulb connector with the switch in the dipped beam position.

If you had of mentioned they had not been working since your friend installed them, this thread might have been a lot shorter.

if you notice in my first post it said "they were working fine" :p

and in the end , i fitted my standard bulbs back in and they worked fine which meant there was a problem with the hid kit somewhere, so ive sent the kit back and it is being tested to see what the problem was with, and then they will send me them back out with the faulty part replaced :) ill let you know what was faulty on the kit !
