ebc unlimited boost problem

Maybe it was set to compensate for the exhaust gas leak through the internal wastegate. You'll need to set it up again to determine whether the solenoid is actually working.

Check the AC/WG setting is set to WG, in the Boost menu select CH1, set AUTO/MANU to AUTO, SET to 0.8, GAIN to 15 and GRAPH SCALE to 1.0 or 1.5. Then check AUTO PEAK is set to ON and UNIT is set to bar. Finally make sure that CH1 is selected on the main screen.

Plumb the OUT port of the solenoid back to the top port of the wastegate and connect a T off the compressor outlet to feed both the IN port of the solenoid and the side port of the wastegate.

Then take the car for a run and see if boost levels off at around 0.8bar, if it does increase SET to 1.0 in the Boost menu and see if boost then peaks at 1.0bar. If that works then the EBC is OK and just needs some fine tuning, if the turbo still overboosts then the solenoid may be faulty.

The stock ECU has a fuel cut function if boost pressure exceeds approx 0.85bar, to increase the boost above this either a Fuel Cut Defender needs to be piggybacked onto the MAP sensor or an aftermarket ECU is required. When using a FCD it's likely that the stock ECU will not inject enough fuel for the amount of air entering the engine, this is very bad and a broken engine will almost certainly be the result. The usual way of increasing the amount of fuel that's injected is to install an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

So the simple question is do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator or an aftermarket ECU? If the answer is no then I would advise you to keep the boost pressure below 0.85bar until you've determined exactly what is going on with regards to the engine management and fuel system fitted to your car.

just set it up as you said mate and its still overboosting so i guess its my solenoid going to swap it over to using spring pressure and save for a solenoid !

You can try lowering the GAIN setting and see if it makes any difference, but it does seem as though the solenoid valve isn't working.

I had the same problem with mine Texx, I even started the gain at 0 once boost pressure was set, but it wouldn't hold boost at all!

If it doesn't hold boost even when switched off then there's a problem, regardless of whatever the gain is set to.
