heya everyone ,
ive recently got an egt gauge , its sitting right under the ashtray ,
got about a meter or so of probe length ,
where should i put it , right underneath the gear selector or further down ?

wouldnt it be better in the exhaust :p

....... on a more serious note i thought it would be better in the mani as thats where most put it ?

i dont wanna touch the mani really its given me enough problems already lol ,
so is that as close as possible to the manifold , downpipe ?

Your readings will differ pre and post turbo.
Ideally you want it in the manifold, some say in runner 3, some say in the collector.

Personally run mine in the collector, and never had an issue, although im in need of a new sensor after 2 years of being in there :)

well ive already had fragments from the mani kill a turbo so i dont want go around drilling in that area , too tight aswell ,
id rather a different place

How important is a EGT gauge mate?

I mean do i really need one? benifits?
Done a search but couldnt really see an answer...

I bought a Defi EGT which i am now selling to get a different style gauge, but is it needed?

well ive read articles that augemtned the fact that afr is more important ,
but since i got low octane , very hot country and tuned mostly by myself lol ,
id rather have an eye on the temps

Take the manifold off and drill a hole in it.
Then get a bung welded in for the temp sensor.

I have an EGT & wideband both needed really in my opinion, bung was welded pre turbo on the manifold to get the best possible reading, why bother to even fit the gauge if its not gonna be accurate? i was gonna go for an EGT gauge which you can get 4 temp sensors, one for each runner in the manifold but it was a bit more than what i was willing to pay, however that would be excellent to have.

yes ppl both are needed for any seriously tuned engine.

the EGT sensor must be placed in the collector of the manifold, or else it just doesnt read accuratelly.
