Engine breathing way way to much

My rocker cover breather is blowing smoke way to much. The other day before I took it to the garage it was only a little bit. Little sprays of oil. It's now had a head skim and now it's smoking like a bitch out the top. I did 40miles opened the bonnet and the engine bay is dripping in oil. How is the engine getting so pressurised. What could this be. Please write a list of everything. It's just a little cone filter that's on top. :) thanks

A damaged piston or piston compression ring are about the only things that will cause the crankcase to become pressurised.

If you did not see any play then you checked wrong. The play can even be seen with a freshly built engine with 40 microns clearance.
It could be that the breather system is hooked up wrong.
A broken piston could cause smoke out of the exhaust, so check for that.
But the culprit usually is what Texx said, broken/damaged piston/rings.

There's smoke coming out of the engine but that's because the turbo seal has gone. It's blue on tick over but when you rev it or drive it stops as it burns. Surely if it was a ring it smoke all the time. Even when driving. ! What would happen if I blocked up that breather just so I can sell it. I know it's bad as engine needs to breath but what's the score.

It would mean that some poor fuker like me would buy it and the engine would blow up with high oil/crank pressure!!

Listen to texx he knows what he talks about! sounds like one of two things * rings damaged(sometimes not seen until removed)
* cracked piston.... again sometimes not seen until removed!

Yeah I was one of those that bought the car for £2000. And have spent £4000 on a new engine and other parts and now it's done it again after 1000 miles. Had new rings and pistons 1000 miles ago. The car is just bad news.

Either there is something wrong with the way it's setup or the work wasn't carried out correctly, it's not the car's fault! Why did the last engine fail?

4000 sterling on a new engine and parts, i would expect that to be a forged engine at least, who is doing all that work on your engine

Basically number 4 big end went. So I bought a recon bottom end £1000 of a jap specialist. Had new bearings oil seals. Conrods pistons and rings. Block was honed everything was good. So I got the bottome end and put my old head on. I though it didn't need skimming as it hasnt over heated on me. Last week the gasket blew between number 1 and 2. I was like shit must of been because I used old head bolts and head must of lifted. So I took it of. Bought new head bolts and gasket kit. £150. Put it back together and then I find number 1 cylinder slightly low on power and we thought it was rings. But I finally got the head checked and it was worped between 1 and 2. Then went up to the bolt whole then to the oil return. I though that must be it. So I got it skimmed and pressure tested. Bought another head gasket and bolts £150. Got that put on. And now the breathing is so bad my bonnet and engine is soaked in oil. I have no more money. I've spent £6000 as I really like this car. Then I get people telling me it's my piston and it's like it's no big deal. I've just bought all of that and how can it be gone again. I'm still running the engine in. Not going over 3000rpm. This just takes the piss. I want it gone.

if i where u i would strip that engine down and give it a careful full rebuild, u should give it a compression test.

If you do it right once, thats all it will need. No mention of you ever getting the AFR checked, that could be the cause of your problems.

before u get that engine built i think u should learn about air fuel ratios, what boost where u running, if u where running lean that would cause your piston and ring damage big time.
