engine now running, but!!! now with vid

got the engine running it was a ecu plug not plugged in, after i noticed the ecu light didnt come on, now as the engine was sat up for a while seams like water was sat in the bottom end, now its been ran seams its got to the top end and its tapping its ass off, im planning on draining it out putting some more oil in to run engine flush with, drain that
and them put some more in try that...

can any1 else think of anything else that will make it tap like hell ????
the dip stick looks like millk and only ran it for 5 mins when we put water in it earlier, as it cut out due to no fuel,

Dont run engin flush through a turbo engin its bad for them destroys the oil seals i learned the hard way :( best thing to do imo is change the oil an filter and drive it for about 500k and change oil and filter again do just a good a job as engin flush without the damage

ive used engine flushed in mine an done 5 oil changes/services on it. ive never heard off that one before. cant see garages using the stuff if its going too damage it :-$

When i put it though mine it did in the seals in the turbo. the turbo was perfect before i did the engin flush and i couldnt drive the car after usin in with the smoke.said it to a machanic that owns a tuning shop in waterford that the turbo got smokey all of a shot and he said he never heard of that happening and i told him i serviced the car flushed it and he said thats wot did in the turbo seals. so i would never risk it again. but thats me. could depend on which brand you use ??

Having water in the oil will not help it lubricate which will make it tap, especially the cams as they'll be the last parts the oil will reach, did the oil light go out & have you got good pressure?

Was the engine stripped down or just put in, if it was stripped down it could be the inlet cam gear not tensioned. Also if the oil continues to fill with water it could be that the vacuum & coolant pipes on the throttle body were put on the wrong way round

the engine was complete and not stripped when we bought it.we have been running it for increments of a few minutes before we put water in and it bassicaly
turned the oil like milk(before water was put in).now we have put water in we just gotta drain the oil and try again.could it be head gasket failure across a water port to oil. as i have had this before on my mk3 escort convertible i had years ago.

What I would do, is to drain the oil, new oil and filter. Drive it round for 10 miles or so and let it get upto temperature etc, then check it again. If it's still doing the same it's likely to be something to do with the head. Either gasket, heads cracked or warped.
Do the cheapest option first.

Rite just checked the vac hoses on the throttle
Seams I have got the vac pipe from number 2 on to the water pipe on the back of the block,
Where should that one go?? As I have found the one to go on the water pipe

So what that guide is saying is make sure u can fit a service bolt through ur inlet cam???
If that is the case then yeah i can, it's just annoying
How is was quiet to start with then 5 min of running and it sounds like someone in their banging hammers

i went out and doubled checked the cam tension, the bolt went straight through the service hole. so im now running out of ideas,

hope the vid helps

did you fit the service bolt before you removed the cams? if not then the tension wont be there.

As said you brought the engine complete and you never stripped it or anything. So maybe the last person that had fiddled with the cams didn't bother with the tension of them.

all seams tensioned, as the bolt sat on one side of the whole that the serivce bolt goes through, put a 24mm spanner on the shaft and tried to see if i could get the gear to move at all,
and i just about managed to get it to move v slightly clockwise

does it sound like their is not enough tension on the cams, is i worth taking it out running it ti tiyita and getting them to check it ????

that wasnt very clear mate. the bolt should go all the way through both halves of the cam gear. its just a normal 6mm bolt.

yeah the bolt does go through both cams,
if that happens does that mean its tensioned correctly?
if so its tensioned as it should be, im thinking of getting my hands on another head and seeing if that sloves the problem

The cams not being tensioned properly wont make it sound like that, thats a different noise, are you 100% sure its coming from the top if so check all the shims, cam lobes & valve clearances for any signs of wear as whatever it is, it sounds like its doing damage somewhere. Have you got an oil pressure gauge if so whats it reading, if you take off the oil cap have you got oil going around the cams? When you drain the engine oil check it for any bits of metal too. Did you see the engine running before you bought it.
