I'm currently in the middle of changing the head gasket on a customers car, the gasket was previously replaced less than 1000 miles ago and has failed already.
Upon removed the cam cover I noticed that the cam keeps looked to have been fitted in the wrong order and to the wrong camshaft.
I have included photos below which show the cam keeps marked E and the keeps marked I. From previous experience I understand that the caps marked E are fitted to the exhaust cam and the caps marked I are fitted to the inlet cam, is this right?
When removing them the caps marked I were fitted to the exhaust cam and the ones marked E were fitted to the inlet cam!
It looks like they were fitted in the wrong order also, the arrows on them should face the front of the engine, the cambelt side, yes?
