Are you putting this back in now??
Well when I re wired the FCD the battery and ecu was unplugged while I did it so guess that countsHave you tried to reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 15 mins or so?
i have this exact same problem, leaving for ring in 20 days so rushing to try and sort it
i wish, fitted a diff and ever since been doing it, at first i thought it was a boost leak but fixed that and no change.. hoping i have put an earth back in the wrong place or something..Do u know I you did anthony to trigger it?
Anyone know what the chances are of me blowing up the ecu if I removed the FCD before disconnecting the battery?Right there heres a slight update, I soldered the wires the correct way round, but the problems still persist
Rough idle
Wont go over 3k revs
Exhaust pops
slight misfire
If i drive gently with my foot very lightly on the acceletor, it drives fine and will go up to 5k but as soon as i make a drastic movement on the pedal, it bogs down instantly
As the wiring is now correct, the only other things i can thing of is when i moved the FCD First time round, i didnt disconnect the battery stupidly, but the car still starts, and no EML on so i'm not sure...
Or Maybe its the Red random wire that isnt connected Here is a pic
It goes into a random loom but not the main one, can't trace where it goes - but it does have some solder on it but i'm not sure where it goes..

Very doubtful, it sounds like a map sensor fault, but the fact you were working around the ecu area would point me to look in that area. If you had another map sensor to fit on to test yours it would rule that out, but for now I would check that there is a circuit on the wire that was cut from the ecu plug to the map sensor. Also worth checking for 5 volts at the map sensor (you will need the ignition on to position 2) and the rubber hose to the inlet mani from the sensor is ok as well.
plug the map sensor in, start the car, take the pipe off the map sensor and block the end up with your thumb (still leaving the pipe connected to the inlet) and rev it a bit, if your rough idle clears up etc then you need a new map sensor
Cheers , will do btw does anyone know if a 4EFE corolla uses the same map sensor as the starlet?
No, you need a turbo one, it may work on idle but not on boost.
To test the circuit you would need a multi meter, use resistance to check the wires are not broken between the ends and voltage to check for 5 volts at the sensor.
