well its nearly time for the classic mini show and my current mini project should be done in time for the autumn. so i might get myself another shell maybe a clubman to build sumthing really fast for summer 2011.

what i wna do is to drop a stock (at the moment) 4efte into the clubman shell. but i already have a 4efe non turbo. so to save myself the hassle of buying a nakkered GT or sumthing for the running gear, i wna know is the 4efe and 4efte the same engine on the outside? e.g engine mounting points, block size, etc. basically any exterior differences?

if i go for this, then my plan is to try and get the 4efe to fit the mini properly. then simply take it out and replace it with its turbocharged japenese cousin, and go from there.

rep waiting any helpful input.

Yeah im sure the engines are identical to look at mate apart from the inlet manifold and obviously abit more room at the front for the turbo setup.
Obviously the internals are different though :)

they are the same mountings as a 4efte .also think the standerd 4efe engines come without a knock sensor internals are weaker than that of the 4efte ,

x2 .. the ignition system is also different on some 4efe models.. also the sump (if an engine from a glanza) sits lower than the one from a ep82.. so maybe something to consider as well, since the mini sits very low to the floor :)

if you plan on stripping down the 4efe to its bare block and head....... then putting in a 4efte crank, rods, pistons, pump, headgasket, intake/exhaust manfold, sump andwireloom, then you will be good. its the exact same block interms of dimentions 1331cc with 74 mm bore and 77.4 stroke. and the head is the exact same thing.

this should shed some light

thanks every1 for your input have some rep for all, and nah mate i wudnt bother strippin this 4efe down, its pretty fucked i think lol, got it from a scrappy, just wna use it as a test dummy if ya get me lol, dnt matter bout any internals etc its just to make it fit properly then swap it out for a noce low mileage 4efte.

i would go down the tried and tested vtec route, but the prices of the vtec kits are just shocking. so reckon i could save myself a lotta money doin this way. also end up with something different.
