fuel cut and fcds

The ECU sees boost from the MAP sensor.

If the ECU sees too much boost it will kill the power before any damage is done. (This is fuel cut). It is a safety net.

A FCD sits between the ECU and the MAP sensor and tricks the ECU into seeing less boost than what is actually happening. Effectively you are have removed the safety net and blindfolded the ECU.

If the ECU doesn't supply enough fuel to suit what is actually happening then engine damage occurs. To avoid this fuelling should be altered to suit the engines requirements.

* When messing with such things you need to know someone who can check and adjust your fuelling requirements. Too many people just wire them in and blow up an engine.
