gearbox grinding

ive got an oem lsd box with a grinding 4th gear. theres no crunching into gear or anything just a grinding noise. all other gears are fine.

I dont no much about gearbox internals so would anyone no what this could be?

its not on the car, it just came out of a mates car and i bought it off him! how much are syncros? i guess iad be better off changing the lot?

oh, its a pain in the hole changing the syncros mate.. huge job if you dont know what your doing.. tricky as hell, it could be the gear itself 2.. syncros aint that much

Syncros are about 60e iirc. there is a fella down here in waterford that is shit hot with gear boxes. e is doing a second gear syncro for a mate o mine at the min and is only chargin 100e for labour.
