getting the turbo to spool sooner

All joking aside, if your experiencing excessive lag with a CT9 based turbo then either your in the wrong gear, you've got an exhaust/boost leak or there's an issue with the actuator or wastegate.

Regardless of the size of the turbo it'll always have some lag, if your trying to boost from too low an RPM in too high a gear there will be a significant delay before the turbo exceeds it's boost threshold and starts to produce usable positive air pressure. Changing the turbo for one that flows more air for a given pressure will no doubt also require a change in driving style.

is it possible the turbo could need a rebuild ?
im not experiencing any smoking from the turbo but a small amountof oil inside hot pipe
just a thought

What peak boost pressure are you running? In 4th gear at what RPM do you see peak boost pressure?

Bigger engine, Higher static compression, huge exhaust, decent tune.

10:1 5efhe + ct9b results in 0.8bar at 1400rpm but still runs a 12.7 1/4 mile ;)

looking at the figures some members have this is not all that impressive for a top mount/hybrid ct9 is it ?

It's not great, an electronic boost controller will definitely improve that a little.

The wastegate will gradually creep open as boost pressure builds up, as soon as the wastegate starts to open some of the exhaust gas will bypass the turbo and this loss of gas will delay the point at which peak boost pressure is reached.

An EBC provides the ability to adjust the point at which the wastegate begins to open, this allows you to keep the wastegate closed for longer directing all of the exhaust gas to the turbo. By fine tuning the point at which the wastegate opens will help to reduce the time it takes for the turbo to reach peak boost pressure.

thanks for clearing that up, ive said it before but i cant fault the administators on here for the valuable information you guys have
cheers

I think a ebc is on the cards next well after replacing the exhaust which im sure is restricting it a little also

can i also ask in the pic below could the circled area be causing a restriction as this is my current exhaust and i dont know what that part is ?
