Getting towards bigger boost

Ive had my car a month now. Its a 96 glanza (31st december 1996 lol ) and its covered 73,000 km bout 45,000ish miles. Ive just put the mani and decat on, removed the air con and front mounted the filter, and a member on here will hopefully soon be setting my car up to run bigger boost as soon as my ebc and
fcd arrive to go with my rrfpr. What i want to know is what the max boost pressure mu ct9b will be able to take? im thinking 1.0-1.1 bar with maybe an overboost of 1.15 or something? would that bo too much or could the turbo live for a long time at that with a proper tune? thanks for reading and i hope yous can help.

1 bar on a stock ct9 is pushing it....but enough has ran this boost to know its safe enough...after 12 psi its hot air ur pushing and after 14 psi u will loose power rather than gain....if u need big boost go for a ct9 hybrid or a bigger turbo

cheers thats the kind of info i needed. im sure ill be happy with it at 1bar max and will be confident in it being safe enough then. one question, people say boost will drop off on the standard actuator at one bar. what does that mean and would i feel it alot in driving the car or would it not be that noticable??

Aye 1 bar is what everyone seems to run. I got mine over from Japan and got mechanics over there to work on my car. They set the boost to 1.2bar on Standard CT9. It pulls like a train still and under bonnet temps are pretty low, however the further up the revs you go the boost will start to drop off abit, you wouldnt really notice it until you check the boost gauge, mines drops from 1.2bar down to 1bar.
My supporting mods are:
HUGE HKS Frount Mount
Jam ECU
Jam Actuator
LSD
Shortshifter
Manifold(to be fitted yet)
Decat(to be fitted yet)
Thats all I can think of at the minute.lol. But thats the rough spec but will wait to see how long the turbo lasts:p

ah rite thanks for that mate. but hey i wouldnt recommend that boost on standard mani and cat. esp the mani as its restrictive and had heard it can and will do bad things. just a heads up.

Aye your right that why I have a mani and decat here to be fitted soon just need to get the money togther for fitting. Aye people dont recomend that boost but I like it and with the mani, decat air filter relocated it should be ok.

Ah rite cool. ull be glad when you get those on. should make a great difference at the higher boost. i done all that yesterday, changed mani, decat, removed aircon and relocated filter. took a long time but was worth it.

with boost that high you'd want to be up-grading the intercooler to probably a fmic for cooilng the temperatures

i am not sayin everyones wrong on here but mine made more power and torque at 1.1bar then it did 1 bar but i think 1.1 is really the limit

I agree there, As long as you have a decent intercooler it will make more BHP and Torque at 16psi than at 14psi.

I'm going to set my auto Glanza at 1.1 bar with supporting mods and fueling wonder that that would be like

1.1bar would make a good bit of bhp :p

have you done anything to yours yet? im just asking as ive read Kelly's thread and she had to fit an external wastegate to solve her issues of boost-creep..

- hers is an auto too:)

Would I get away with 1.1bar through a water cooled, RX7 TMIC?

Tommy

What do you mean by watercooled? A water spray on it? or a casing around it filled with water, a pump and a water cooling rad making a changecooler?

Without seeing your intake temperatures it will be impossible to say, the charge would be cooled more by a FMIC for sure.

Just gotta pay for the manifold from Dane then get it fitted as well as a decat pipe made from Woolf Mufflers an external wastegate going to run 12 psi then I will fit a vr4 fmic, fcd, rrfpr and get it set up on 1.1 bar I can't wait it will be powerful as I have done some work rx7 tmic, 2.25 catback exhaust, apexi pod filter, Turbosmart Boost T, lowered on Jamex springs, Monroe Gt shocks, rear strut brace, 16 inch advanti rims and 205/45 R16 tyres also got some recaro seats and a rear front spoiler fitted as well as tints. Got a rear sway bar on the way soon too

Someone mention Jamex..?

Glad someone else has bought Jamex brand springs - am buying a set today, and have been reading as many reviews as possible. Seems pretty 50/50 (some total rubbish, some decent). You reckon they were worth it? Personal star rating out of 10?
