As most of you will know, about 6 months ago my engine gave in on my GT which sparked me to do a big power build.

6 months down the line and i still only have half a car, it been at a local garage for a few months now, and in all fairness i know the the guys there and when it first went there i said im in no rush so do it when you can like....

The engine, gearbox and turbo kit are on now and i still have loads left to do, i think im losing interest in it as its been so fucking long since i drove it.

I have spent thousands of pounds and months and months searching and buying parts and it still dont feel like its anywhere near finished :(

Im starting to wish i just saved the money and bought a completed starlet with just personal touches that needed adding if you get me?

Should i keep going or should i sell all parts and buy a finished starlet?
I am seriously thinking about it, its doing my head in :(

I know but its been so long and there is still alot to do.
All my money has been spent on my car and i even had to borrow 1K off the mrs which i still owe her :(

For the amount i have spent i could of bought a mint starlet :(

sorry you feel downhearted, we all do when things dont go our way! ive re-insured mine 2 months ago and still its just sitting on the drive waiting for the new turbo set-up.

way i see it if things were easy every dick would do it, satisfaction when hard work pays off is worth it.

keep it going mate then it will be completely your work. When its done you will feel amazing. It will pay you back in smiles mate.

I know EXACTLY how you feel mate. Mines been in almost the same situation although nothing being broken really, and it's still a long road as well. Although alot of mine is because of changing the plan and waiting on suppliers to finally come up with what I had bought and paid for.

It depends how much hassle you can put up with, as selling all the parts will usually involve all the piss taking low ball offers and time wasters, then you will need to find a decent PROPERLY looked after car, which is a hassle as well.

If you have really had enough mate it may be worth selling the parts of at least enough to fund for another starlet, there are some great cars in the for sale section for pennys for what they are at the moment.

Try not to quite tho when its all done and together it would have been all worth while.

i had to wait ages for mine mate did my head in too. thats half the reason im trying to build my own fast car now. but when i finally got the glanza back, went out and boosted it for the first time it made it all worth it believe me. my right leg was trembling lmao. trust me hold in there its worth every second.

and remember u can buy a starlet done up to the bollocks how do u know its been done right or was a nice example to start with? or been ragged to shit? thats the advantage of doin your own car up. u know exactly whats happened to it and how its been driven.

Bazza has spent loads of money on his car and his has been off the road over a year now and the engine still isnt even in the car although most parts are sitting in garage waiting to be put in. I sometimes tell him too get rid of everything but he wont. An to be fair now i know its going to be done by like february im quite excited myself :haha:

Keep going don't give up! You'll get it finished with determination! Will be a shame too think that you've spent all that money and you wont see the finished project!

Thanks for all the comments guys :)

Everyone seems to be saying stick at it and i want to but how much longer am i going to wait?

I always wanted to modify my own car to my spec but it never goes as planned and ALWAYS has problems :(

Im not sure? I could sell everything and make pretty much ALL my money back and nothing would be sold below what i paid for as its all BRAND NEW pretty much...

Some nice cars for sale and i want to stay with the starbos.

What to do?

if you really feel like breaking her mate why not get a gauging interest thread up and see from there what to do

Right i have worked out all the aftermarket parts i have bought and that were already on the car to be alot of money- like £7000ish

Does that sound about right for the stuff i have lads???

I will put a gauging interest thread up if it does and see what parts are wanted and may...only may consider it maybe....
