How does it compare to a teg?

LOL, you and me both!!!

N/A tuning isnt as hard as you may think either....

Once you know what your looking at and what you want its similar to turbo, they both need to be tuned, just with N/A to build more power you need higher compression/power is then shifted high in the revs like a race car.

Turbos are better for low-ish compression to handle boost applications...

You just need good headwork with a pair of wild cams and a very good tune/internal work etc...

As for money, its of a similar price to tune a turbo car well, i will say turbo will have more power potontial, thats a fact.

Its just what you know.

MARMITE FTW! lmao, how did we get onto marmite? haha

the main appeal is tbh...im getting sick of the starlet, rattles, makes new noises every day, allways something needs a fix, and it hardly impresses my girlfriend, and its hardly a impressionable car for a pilot. i love hatchbacks, want some juice, want something with low miles, and this side of the milenium for once. just ticks all the boxes

If you are only interested in what makes a car fast in a straight line, then maybe consider something else or go test drive one and make you own mind up.

Its not what Type R's are about.

They are real fast cars, as in cornering speed, handeling and real driver cars with total balance.

Not straight line heroes.

Go test drive one mate.

As Gee says, like comparing apples with oranges. Type R's are road racers, and in stock trim, can out handle many other cars, even modified ones. Go for a test drive to see if it's for you.

Thats exactly how that f*#&ers car sounded !!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad: he must have that engine !!! must be!

You say that but my engine sounds like that at the moment due to manifold gasket blowing badly!

Some exhaust systems on the B series engines can come out sounding similar to that too.....

That engine only has between 200-220bhp depending model....

i mean it revved faster than the other 101 tegras i raced and the only one i can remember revving something like that is the one modded with the spoon parts which is why it revs like that

Thats a damn quick teg, fair bit of work done to it

Basically the real question is do you like to drive the stones out of your car and get noticed a lot?

Yes? Get one

No,not really...leave it alone.

You have to shove it into bends in high revs and basically hit the limiter to get the enjoyment out of them, you really really have to drive them like you stole it,otherwise its a boring car

In stock form i can see what your saying but the engines have to be opened up a bit.........

With a few well chosen mods to free things up they are very responsive even below the vtec point.

On a standalone ECU mapped just right you can get some very impressive power before the thing has even kicked in.

Alot more so on the B18C rather then the B16B in the EK9.

But even on mine, with my mods my car is very responsive and moves well before its kicked in.

completely stock though i agree with you.

People seem to forget that these cars were designed with track use in mind where keeping in the VTEC zone is not much of a problem.

most tdo4 tubos beat these tegs hands down most of the time ,,there just noise boxes that dont move at all ,,,and yes had some before ,,like the gt s now

you say most td04 starlets beat these, but starlets dont come with td04s, if you put that cash into a teg you would have a hell of a lot more car than a td04 starlet. I have saw a friends standard ek9 overtake a td04 starlet through second because it was lag then wheelspin until 4th gear. Winning in a straight line is boring its just a case of pretty uch who has more money to throw at a car put them round a track and the hondas would wipe the floor with most starlets even in standard form.

ohhh this thread is turning into a bit of a big pot that is stirring quickly by a few.

NO ONE IS COMPARING THEM TO OTHER CARS, so please lets keep this friendly yeah,

NO STARLET TDO4 VS HONDA..............................

If you have no experience or any advise about the cars which was the initial question then please, errrrm feck orrrrrf............
