How much Boost?

Can anyone tell me how much boost i can safely run with stock internals, turbo etc
And is it wise to replace the factory head gasket if increasing the boost?

Thanks, Jez

You can run 1 bar on a CT9 safely with the correct supporting mods, there are always things that will make the car more reliable when doing this, a head gasket is one, but there are others I would do first. If you search "raising boost" there will be loads of threads come up from members who have done this in the past, and what they have experienced when doing so.

Okay cheers for the advice, i have got a RRFPR and FCD, full exhaust and de-cat, relocated air filter and front mount. I was told i can raise the boost to 1 bar safely with standard internals but if im better off changing the gasket i will. Should i be looking to get an ecu next or can i get set up with out? Thanks again

The only other thing I would say to do to your set up is either port the stock exhaust manifold or get a good quality aftermarket one. The restriction in the manifolds cylinder 3 port is the main cause of piston and head gasket failures on that set up. Do a compression test to check what your head gasket is like now, if its not low then I would leave it, a good tune is more important. You can set it up pretty well with what you have, should get about 160bhp or there abouts, keep the fluids in good condition and levels right, dont be bouncing it off the limiter or ragging it cold and it should last ok.

If you are going to buy an ECU buy a Jam/Blitz?mines pre programmed type, you will make more power safely from a stock engine, plus you have scope with it to upgrade the turbo to something a bit bigger and it will still run it, without paying for a remap each time you change something. They hold their money as well, you will sell it for the same price you got it in a few years time, I ran a Blitz for years and to be honest, it was trouble free tuning lol.

Forgot to say I have replaced the whole system including the manifold, had it strengthened aswell as I hear they are prone for cracking lol okay I will do a compression test and make a decision from there, thanks again mate!

If you plan on giving that cara good thrashing dont use a RRFPR and FCD, it will end in tears pal! get it on a piggy back ecu.

wallace performance do dastek piggy back ecu's for a very fair price
