I would make sure the cam timing is spot on before going any further.
Then make sure the ignition timing is set properly.

Look in the awsomely helpfull bit for guides.

Changing the dump valve position wont make a diffirence.

just found the guide for cam timing, is there any info on the cam side of things? etc the right positioning of the cams on head? i didn see any thing in that section.

also is the info for cam timing the same as ignition timing or is there a guide for that also?

cheers

I would say that you have a timing issue or your map sensor pipe is off.

the cam belt is spot on as this was checked several times an marks all line up. i dont know anything about the cam timing if thats the same thing as the cam belt an the marks etc then i dont see that beeing the issue.

also the ignition timing is that changed by adjusting the distriputor?

Have you checked for any fault codes?

From what your describing, it sounds like either the cams were not aligned correctly when installed or the timing belt pulley marks were not aligned correctly when the belt was installed.

As Rory has said, check that the valve timing is set correctly by setting the crank pulley at TDC and then check where the timing mark is on the cam pulley. If the pulley marks line up pull the cam cover off and check the alignment marks on the cam gears are lined up. Once all the marks have been checked and are good, set the ignition timing using a timing light.

Also have a good check around the engine bay to make sure all connectors and hoses have been reconnected.

Just about anywhere really, eBay etc... the lack of management wont be causing your poor running though.

Was the car running well before you changed the turbo? was the turbo new or second hand? there are so many variables. if you run out of ideas personaly i would put it back to standard and start again. Just make a list of everything that was change and go through them one by one you will learn a lot about your car that way and hopefully find the fault.

Good idea to get a pro to look over it. Would be worth sticking the standard turbo back on. Not a hard job and at lest you can prove the turbo side of things are ok. The problems with buying second hand is that you just don't know what life its had unless you drive the car it came off. Good luck anyway hope you get it sorted soom.

Waste of time putting the standard turbo back on, the hybrid will either work or it wont.
