Leaking coilovers?

Whats the best way to see if your coilovers are leaking? Would they make a strange sound or would them just bounce continuisly? Or look for holes?

They'll probably be covered in fluid, thats leaked from the shocks.

They'll either be very bouncy (just the spring working) or (more commonly) they'll be absolutely solid because they are siezed.

If thats not spot on, someone correct me, but that is my understanding of the matter.

if they are leaking badly enough to fail you should notice the oil all over
