cheers Terry, so in theory if I just drove it and didnt bother getting the belt changed for a while and it happened to snap then it shouldnt do any major damage. I will get it done but dont have time at the moment. There are depressions in the piston crowns to prevent any piston to valve contact if the belt lets go.
Steaven Eagel in MK do work with imports, and so far they've been very helpful, especially when getting Parts! However, when I had "check engine" light on my dashboard and sent them an email regarding it the reply was

Dear Paul
Many apologise for to long delay, as you mention we are in the luck position of being very busy at the moment. To carry out a full diag test on the vehicle it would be 1 hours labour, which would be £99.95+vat. In this time we will look at all the basic areas of the vehicle to see if we can find any faults. The only problem we have though is with electrical side of the vehicle we do not have any wiring diagrams for import vehicles and not tech support from Toyota, this can make it very difficult if not impossible to diag some problems, espeacialy on your new vehicle as that engine etc was never in our uk spec vehicles.
Should you want to book the vehicle in for this 1hours diag i would need the vehicle in for one whole day in the week, as my diag technian only works in the week and I only have two technicans on, on a sat.
Hope this helps and many apologise again for the delay in getting back to you.

Probably that is why, they don't do Imports - no diagrams! However, I assume the cambelt would be pretty much the same or not even 100% the same as on the UK starlet, so why not..... However I wudn't go to them for a Service or repairs as they're seriously overpriced and local garages can do the same job a lot cheaper!
They won't work on the car because they haven't got a book with a list of instructions telling them what they need to do. If they need a manual for a simple belt change then I wouldn't even let them play with a pram.

Same in Aberdeen, the parts are available to all dealers, trouble is dealers can pick and choose what they supply. Some are lazy and do not supply the relevant parts. Some do not know the system well enough to process import orders efficiently. Others are more than happy. I called up toyota Aberdeen to source some parts. No luck with some of them. Called Toyota Elgin and been going to them for parts for years, really good. The guy even gave me some exploded views from his Toyota software. Toyota have a warehouse in Belgium with tons of import parts there. - This whse is worth mentioning when looking for import parts. I have even got quotes for parts for some Land Cruisers imported from Saudi Arabia!!
i can get any parts for any import from toyota aberdeen provided they arnt discontined its all about who u speak to
Try to get wind deflectors -) My local Toyota couldn't get them!!!
